Cross-Cultural Leadership Styles in Multinational Corporations in Sri Lanka

 

This study evaluates how Sri Lankan managers adapt their leadership styles when managing multicultural teams in MNCs.

🔹 Objectives

  • To identify leadership styles commonly used in MNCs.

  • To assess how culture influences leadership effectiveness.

🔹 Methodology

Case study of 3 MNCs with diverse teams. Interviews with 9 managers and 15 employees from different cultural backgrounds.

🔹 Key Findings

  • Transformational leadership is most effective in cross-cultural teams.

  • Cultural intelligence improves team cohesion and performance.

  • Western-educated managers tend to adopt participative leadership.

🔹 Conclusion

Effective leadership in MNCs requires cultural sensitivity, flexibility, and emotional intelligence.
