The Role of Data Analytics in Strategic Decision-Making

This research examines the integration of data analytics into strategic decision-making in Sri Lankan corporates, especially in finance and retail.

🔹 Objectives

  • To identify analytics tools used by decision-makers.

  • To assess how analytics influences business strategies and performance.

🔹 Methodology

Quantitative survey (n=85 managers) + qualitative interviews with 10 data officers.

🔹 Key Findings

  • 60% of respondents said data dashboards enhanced decision speed and accuracy.

  • Predictive analytics used mostly for customer behavior forecasting.

  • Challenges: data quality issues and lack of analytics talent.

🔹 Conclusion

Strategic use of data analytics enhances decision-making but requires culture and skill alignment.
